Rocket Woman wants to help women looking for roles in engineering. To do that we need to understand the barriers, what has been holding you back, what do you want to achieve and what do you need to do it?
Have you left the engineering workforce to have children, to look after sick or elderly relatives or just because you needed to do something different? Did engineering not turn out to be what you expected and tried another industry but are looking to come back but don’t know how? Do you work in one industry, such as mining but want to try another, such as aerospace but don’t know how to transfer your skills? Do you feel you have been away too long, and employers won’t take you seriously? Or did you always want to understand how and why things work but your life took you on another path?
If any of that sounds like you, we want to talk to you. Rocket Woman wants to create opportunities for you. We want to inspire the next generation by supporting the current one. We want to create meaningful careers for women later in life. We want to ensure the career choices young women make at 16 or 18 don’t have to define their careers for the rest of their lives.
What do we want to know?
What matters to you? What barriers are stopping you from having the career you want? What position are you in now and where do you see yourself in the future? What is it costing you, emotionally, personally, financially? What support do you need?
